Milan Knížák, Opening Performance Orchestra, j. h. Phaerentz
Opening Performance Orchestra created a new version of the composition by Milan Knížák using the principles of „fraction music“. Original mechanical destruction and physical play LPs were replaced by digital editing. Source material for a new composition were in addition to the original Broken Music also audio fragments and quotes by Milan Knížák, published under the general title Broken Tracks and original soundtracks by Opening Performance Orchestra. Live performance at the Alternativa 2012 festival in Prague Music Club HooDoo brings three consecutive parts of the composition (Broken Part, Re: Broken Part and Part Fraction). Principles of fraction music were consistently used only in the second and third parts of the composition, while the first part was created as a tribute to the original Broken Music. It contains analog audio recording, coming from a living playing mechanically modified records.
