Tittingur

There are a couple of things you can depend on. One of them is that the Slovak duo Tittingur will keep coming up with impressive albums and monumental live shows. At the same time, it shouldn’t be overlooked that Dominik Suchý and Matúš Mordavský's approach is constantly evolving. In the beginning, there was an apparent fascination with the fusion of noise/industrial and techno, at some point prevalent in both scenes, and with the bombast of power ambient; they also noted an admiration for the rough but colourful electronics of Fuck Buttons. The angles from which Tittingur approach their influences, however, change constantly; moreover, they gradually introduce new elements. Sometimes, echoes of Twin Peaks rise to the surface; the next track can include Slovak folk melodies. Over time, clear electronic beats have subsided, to be replaces by pulsating and similarly mesmerising masses of sound. What’s important: this is not just an exercise in intensity. It is no coincidence that Suchý and Mordavský, together with Tomas Prištiak, run the Weltschmerzen label, a "platform for romantic music". Tittingur are undoubtedly representative of the aesthetics of the sublime (the feeling of awe when confronted with the immeasurable); still, they are also emotional, honest, vulnerable.
