Zangezi

Zangezi is a sextet accompanied by a “visual artist" and a "sound designer" that strives for an artificial but organic sound production aesthetic.

Each instrument is amplified and processed using filters and live algorithms, bringing the difference between acoustic and electric instruments beyond a new type of experimental chamber music. Morphing psychoacoustic parameters, Zangezi explores a democracy of plurality and diversity, where the performative device is a blend of lush acoustic orchestration with live electronics. Zangezi invites the listener into a fluid and ambiguous universe that challenges the notion of representation of a fluid society. The concert is structured around three main themes that provide points of reference for its development: the reflections surrounding the concepts of generations and identities; the idea of disconnection, misunderstanding and incongruity through the exploration of language and its appropriation or misappropriation; and the escapist journey towards an ideal other place.
